UThukela District Municipality Mayor AS Mazibuko, accompanied by Speaker PG Strydom and Ward Councillor NN Bhengu, introduced a sanitation project to the community of Khetani in Winterton, under Okhahlamba Municipality last Wednesday.

Once again, the people’s dignity has been restored through proper sanitation facilities as it was promised to this community during the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Budget consultative meetings conducted in April this year.

The Khetani community was one of the communities tipped to benefit from the IDP plan. Mr Mazibuko assured the audience that service delivery programmes have since started in some areas.
“We are bringing this sanitation project here in Khetani today because it is our aim to restore people’s dignity and hygienic environment, as it is our duty to make sure that the community gets basic needs. This project will also create temporary job opportunities for the locals,” said the Mayor.
“The contractor that will take over the work is Inhloso Development Consultants. We took this contractor from other community, because this project is a matter of urgency and clean potable water and hygienic sanitation are all essential ingredients to ensure human health,” the Mayor concluded.
