The community has welcomed the development and are happy that the lights will bring about a decrease in the high crime rate

Guided by the Municipal Thuma Mina Programme, Council has committed eight high mast lights which will be erected in the Ward 25 areas of Manqatheni, Redhill, Esikhaleni and Ematafuleni.

Speaking at a community meeting, Cllr Thuli Hadebe stressed that the installation of these lights would take place from November 1 this year to June next year and that a total of 16 jobs will be created. This development will come at a cost of R2 million and the contractor is DKS Trading Enterprise.

The community welcomed the development and are happy that the lights will bring about a decrease in the high crime rate that is prevalent in these areas during the evenings. The lights will create better visibility in the evenings.

According to the municipality, the Office of the Municipal Manager will be publishing and rolling out more interventions aligned to the Thuma Mina Programme in liaison with all the municipal political office bearers who will be leading various interventions and programmes aimed at improving service excellence.
