
As part of the Municipal Thuma Mina Programme, Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala visited the area of Kleinfontein recently.
The programme was hosted by Cllr “Special” Sokhela, who is deployed by the African National Congress (ANC) to serve the community of Ward 19.
The purpose of the programme was to introduce a contractor mandated by Eskom, in liaison with the municipality, to provide electricity to 350 households.
The project is valued at R6 million and is expected to be implemented over a period of six months.
Community members welcomed the electrification project.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality is committed to co-operatively engage with Eskom with the aim of ensuring that many other rural communities that were previously without electricity are assisted.

“We are a municipality that seeks to find interventions which will improve service delivery beyond expectations,” municipal spokesperson Siyabonga Maphalala stated.
