Since the refuse removal routine has become dysfunctional, residents have had to tolerate this eyesore. One such revolting waste skip is positioned behind the Estcourt Town Hall, close to a green area that people often frequent.

A resident, who did not want to be named, is in this area daily and says that it has been months since municipal workers have cleaned out the skip. Instead, the content of the waste skip is set alight.

“The smell of smoke the entire day is really terrible. The refuse inside also starts to rot and it really makes the entire area stink,” commented the resident.

Complaints to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality have allegedly fallen on deaf ears.
