Vryheid High shines in sport and community projects

Vryheid High learners excel in sport and community projects, from tree planting to cricket.

Last week was an eventful one at Vryheid High School, with learners excelling both on the sports field and in community-driven projects.

The Eco Club took the lead in promoting environmental awareness by planting trees at the Paddadam. This initiative not only contributes to a greener community, but also highlights the school’s commitment to sustainability and conservation. Learners enthusiastically took part, understanding the long-term value of protecting natural resources for future generations.

On the sporting front, Vryheid High successfully hosted a soccer tournament that drew in teams from various schools. After a series of exciting matches and strong displays of teamwork, Kwabhanya Secondary School emerged as champions, taking home the title. The event was hailed as a success, with excellent sportsmanship displayed both on and off the field.

The girls’ cricket teams were also in action, playing fixtures against Dundee and Pongola during the week. The matches provided valuable experience for the teams, and showcased the growing talent and dedication of the players.

Looking ahead, the school is preparing for an exciting cricket fixture against Newcastle in the coming week. Players and supporters alike are eager to see another spirited performance from the teams.
