May 4 is the 124th day of the year (125th in leap years). There are 241 days of the year remaining. May 4 is often known as “Star Wars Day”. On this day, people tend to say: “May the 4th be with you”, in reference to the popular phrase in Star Wars: “May the Force be with you.”

Serious Star Wars fans consider May 4 as a holiday that celebrates the well-known franchise. The date was chosen only because of the pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you”. The holiday hasn’t been officially declared, but this doesn’t stop thousands of Star Wars fans from all over the globe to celebrate May the Fourth.
Star Wars Day wasn’t even founded by a Star Wars fan, but was first used in 1979 when Conservative Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher won the General election in the United Kingdom. An article in a the London Evening News congradulated her by saying “May the fourth be with you, Maggie. Congradulations”. She was Britain’s first elected female Prime Minister.
