A triumph of grace and resilience local Miss SA hopeful
Despite facing bullying for her dark skin, Miss SA, 2nd runner-up, Onalenna Constantin transformed adversity into empowerment!
Onalenna Constantin, a 26-year-old from Potchefstroom, has captivated the nation with her remarkable journey from a small town to the Miss South Africa stage. A model, law student, entrepreneur, and content creator, Constantin’s story is one of resilience and grace.
Born in Mafikeng and raised in Potchefstroom, Constantin excelled academically and athletically at Potchefstroom Central School and Potchefstroom High School For Girls. Her journey into the Miss South Africa competition began in 2020. Despite not winning that year, she returned with renewed determination and secured the 2nd runner-up spot in 2024, a significant achievement.
The Miss South Africa 2024 pageant, held on 10 August 2024 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, was a glamorous affair. While Mia Le Roux took the crown, Constantin’s performance left a lasting impression.
Reflecting on her achievement, Constantin said, “I am so honoured and grateful to have represented my incredible province, North-West. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Your love does not go unnoticed.”
Her family and supporters have expressed immense pride. Her mother, Lydia Masiu, stated, “I promised I wouldn’t rest until I saw her on the Miss South Africa stage. God fulfilled His promise, and I am so proud.”
Her brother, King Chana, noted, “My sister is my biggest inspiration. She made it to the Top 3, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.”
Admirers including Ana Pheto and Mpho Mosena praised Constantin for her dedication and strength. Dipuo Mache highlighted, “You have put North-West on the map. We are proud of you.”
Constantin’s husband celebrated her success, saying, “Being in the Top 3 is incredible. Your hard work and passion have filled me with joy and admiration. I’m excited for our future together.”
