The SPCA will soon be the place to hang out for pets and their owners alike, owing to an exciting transformation starting this Saturday.

Pedigree Paws, a local salon, will be joining forces with veterinarian, Dr Ninette Leistner, who is already based at the animal shelter, in providing the ultimate in pet health and grooming.
Having always supported the SPCA, Désirée van Heerden, co-owner of Pedigree Paws along with Zanmari Erasmus, saw the opportunity and is delighted to now be able to offer a one-stop solution for clients, who will also be granted the chance to do their bit for the animals awaiting adoption.
“We believe that all animals deserve to be healthy, well-fed and, of course, looking good,” she said. “A clean animal has confidence, and a confident pet is a happy pet. It just made sense to move premises and assist the SPCA.” Much like the chain supermarkets, each client will receive a loyalty card and, for every ten grooming sessions paid for, a pet at the SPCA will have the luxury of enjoying a free grooming session. This will increase the chances of adoption.
Prospective dog or cat owners, with a discounted rate, will also have the option of having their newly adopted child groomed while the papers are signed. Clipped nails and sweet-smelling pooches aside, there will also be a vet shop offering all the latest in prescription diet foods as well as a comprehensive range of over-the-counter medicinal, herbal, homeopathic and prescription products. Dr. Leistner will be readily available to offer any advice needed.
Existing as well as new clients are invited to attend the opening on Saturday, 9 May from 08:00 to 17:00. Snacks will be served and loads of prizes are up for grabs including free grooming sessions, prescription food, and toys.
