The Ikageng SAPS have opened an inquest case after a 9-year-old boy in Promosa, Baipei was found hanging from a tree at about 15:15 last Thursday.

According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, the police received a call from a community member that afternoon. The police rushed to the scene and found the boy’s body on the ground under the tree. ‘He was wearing a brown T-shirt and grey tracksuit pants. Upon further inspection, the police discovered scratch marks around his neck. There was also a piece of rope hanging from a broken tree branch,’ she said.

The EMS personnel certified the boy dead before the body was transported to the Potchefstroom mortuary.
