The fun, laughter, cries, cheering and competitive activities all made up the Potchefstroom Nursery annual big walk and sports day fundraiser, last Saturday.
The energetic children took part in athletics, dancing, singing and also had a chance to ride ponies, paint their faces, sprayed their hair, played on the jumping castle and played PlayStation games.
Their parents were not left behind as they took each other on in a tug-o-war and also raced against each other on the track.
Anika Van Heerden, the principal of the school, says that, apart from the fundraising, the intention was to get the children’s parents to come together and enjoy the fun-filled activities with their kids. ‘Every day, the parents drop off their kids and they do not get time to communicate with each other,’ she said.
Potchefstroom Nursery School is a private school that does not receive a government subsidy for education. Anika says the money raised will be used to upgrade the playground, on building maintenance and educational needs. She thanked all the sponsors of the event including Harcourts, Nu Skin, Smart Fix, Spar Wash, Langeberg Guest Farm, Aldus Smith Photography, John Dory’s, Game, Easy Pets and Plants and Ballet Twirls.
