The 5th Potch Mooi Dragon Boat Festival, proudly sponsored by Team Daly, is fast approaching and each and every participant is putting their very best into their training sessions.
The annual fundraising event, taking place on Saturday 21 October, will once again be held at Potch Dam and is expected to be a day of enjoyment for participants and spectators alike. With food stalls, the Potch Dam restaurant and bar available, along with the option of bringing your own food and drink and having a braai with the family, the event is sure to be filled with fun, laughter and festivities.
The first race will kick off at 08:00 when we’ll be able to watch 14 teams furiously competing for first place. This achievement will allow the winning team to choose a charity to which their team entry fee will be donated. They will also receive free entry into the Taiwanese Sport and Cultural Festival at Florida Lake in Gauteng on 11 November 2017.
A boating team is made up of 24 members: 18 paddlers (6 of whom must be women), a drummer, a flag catcher and 4 reserves. The following teams have entered so far, so start deciding who you’ll be rooting for:

The cancer ceremony that takes place at every Dragon Boat Festival, honours those who have beaten it, are still fighting it or have lost the battle. It offers a moving moment for survivors and aims to raise awareness of the disease.
Entry for spectators is R39 for adults, R19 for children between the ages of 6 and 15 and R18 for a vehicle. For more information, contact Johnny Ford on 082 804 783 or email potchmooidbf@gmail.com.
