Double trouble for family

The Tobolo family in Thibedi Street in Ext. 11 have to endure the misery of living next to both a sewage spill and a rubbish dump without any assistance forthcoming from the JB Marks municipality.

Thabiso Tobolo is worried and annoyed at the same time. ‘The smell is intolerable but this is also a health threat to my daughters, aged 13 and three. We can hardly eat our meals because of the smell,’ he said.
The Tobolos last reported the sewage spill and rubbish dump to their ward councillor last Sunday but, once again, their pleas fell on deaf ears.
The council spokesperson, Willie Maphosa says they have raised the problem with the manager concerned. ‘We regret the communication breakdown between the family and the municipality. However, we will follow it through,’ he said.
