Motorists are blocked from taking this road outside Carletonville and at the fourway crossing to Deelkraal.

The road was closed about an hour ago.

Motorists can now only use the part of the R501 leading past Khutsong Extension 5 if they want to travel between Welverdiend and Carletonville. Another alternative, but not very good, route for people from Deelkraal is through Blyvoor.

People driving between Johannesburg and Potchefstroom are advised to either use the road past Khutsong Extension 5, or the N12 or N14.
