NWU-Mahikeng campus is again, up and running

The NWU-Mahikeng has reopened. This comes after the campus was closed down last Monday(27 January).

The closure was a result of the call from the South African Union of Students (SAUS) for a nation-wide shutdown. NWU staff and other stakeholders were prevented from entering the premises, and services could not be rendered to students.

However, after thorough consideration, the Mahikeng campus was reopened on Friday (31 January) and services were provided over the weekend.

Louis Jacobs, the NWU spokesperson said, “Due to the backlog caused by this week’s protest action, staff in the departments of finance, student housing, and registration, were in their offices on Saturday as well as Sunday to ensure that the necessary assistance is provided to students”.

He also confirmed that classes have official started today (3 February) as planned.

“We look forward to assisting our students and ensuring that they have a successful 2020 academic program,” said Jacobs.
