Potholes ravage Ikageng

The municipality has stated that roadworks will commence at the end of April.

Residents in Ikageng are bemoaning the lack of service delivery, especially when it comes to the state of roads in Extension 11.

Sarafina Street, which is one of the main streets entering Extension 11, as well as other streets such as Tilo, Thibedi and Tlhabologang, are affected by a slew of potholes.

Mpho Blom, a resident of Ikageng, expressed his displeasure this week about the potholes in Ext 11.

“I’ve lived here for five years and the roads were already full of potholes then. It just seems much worse now.”

Potholes have made the road almost undriveable.

The JB Marks Local Municipality states that these streets are affected by underground water seepage.

“The Roads and Stormwater Maintenance Unit will commence earthworks on the last week of April 2026 to address the matter. The following materials are available for the work: Damrock, Waterproofing Membrane, G6 and G5 Materials, Crusher Sand, and Paving Bricks,” explained Jeanette Tshite, JB Marks Municipal spokesperson.
