
Police arrested Kevin Maponyane (29) on Tuesday, 10 March, after they received a tip-off from community members.
According to Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, Maponyane was arrested on two counts of unlicensed firearms and the possession of stolen goods. The firearms were discovered at the suspect’s home when the police conducted a search.
“The suspect is currently on bail for four other cases, including two alleged murders committed in Ikageng during September 2018, and in February 2019, outside Potchefstroom. As well as two cases for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. One in Potchefstroom during May 2019, and the second one in Ikageng, during September 2019,” she stated.
Maponyane appeared at the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court earlier today, 12 March.
He remains in custody until Thursday, 19 March, for his formal bail application.
