A clear vision, dedication and perseverance are things that drive Kagiso Lerefolo (19) , a Regional Coordinator of Congress of South African Students (COSAS) to continue striving for change.
Kagiso occupied this position from 23 November 2019 and this gave him a bigger platform to make a positive impact in the lives of the youth.
Since the age of nine, he has always wanted to be a leader. This was not difficult for Kagiso as he was taught from a tender age how to be responsible, to tackle life and the challenges it brings.
His journey in politics began when he became a member of COSAS Tlokwe Branch when he was in Tlokwe High School. Since then, Kagiso has been involved in student politics. Growing up, he explains, that he saw a neglect in political education, which made him join COSAS.
This 19-year-old , Ikageng resident, is particularly passionate about the youth and positive change. He hopes to motivate the youth and also make a contribution in helping with the development of the Ikageng community. He says his dream was to create a positive school culture.
“I enjoy working with young people, I believe that they are the future,
“The festival of ideas should earnestly begin with the youth at the center of the arena,” he stated.
Kagiso says being one of the youngest coordinators is a great feeling and has been a wonderful experience. “It gives others in the student movement a chance to see that everything is possible when you believe, whether you are young or old,
“Being a Regional Coordinator of COSAS leading up to Upcoming Provincial Organiser Of COSAS is such an great achievement for me,” he expressed.

Through his acts, Kagiso aims to pave the way for the next generation.
What keeps the ambitious teen motivated is seeing his contribution making a positive impact on others.
He has established an educational programme called, Tsa Ikageng Township Programme, which he plans to launch soon. This programme aims to provide educational upliftment within Ikageng.
He compiled a document titled, Ithate Moithuti Document, which means “love yourself, learner” in Setswana. The contents of the document, where he has written rules and regulations that can be used to create a positive school culture. According to Kagiso, this has helped a number of schools in Ikageng. He hopes that his partnership with schools will extend across the province.
“I advice all school learners to keep moving, dreaming, creating and doing the best they can. ”
