It’s been over a year and water continues to leak on Avenue street in Mohadin.
Faeez Bhyat (30) is one of the residents who can no longer bare with the situation
Faeez, has stayed in Avenue street his entire life.
“Over the past 10 years there has been serious deterioration in the services of the J.B. Marks municipality,” he said.
One of the most recent issues is the loss of apparently clean water.
“It has been more than a year that we have been living with water leakage, I have been told that this is due to a leakage taking place in Ext 7,” Faeez explained.
With the excessive leakage, the roads have deteriorated to the point that they are practically of no use. “Due to the severe damage of the road people drive on the pavement which messes up my lawn as well as my garden,” Faeez said.
Faeez, along with community members have tried to fight for the issue to be resolved, however no one from the municipality seems willing to solve the matter.
“The ward councilors are nowhere to be found and are of no assistance to the community,” Faeez said.
“They are well aware of our circumstances because they have been here, their vans drive up and down on these damaged roads, however no one is willing to do anything,” he added.
“Water is a precious resource. Millions of litres is getting wasted with no cares from the incompetent municipality,” he concluded.
The Herald asked the municipality for comment but none was forthcoming in time of print.
