The J.B. Marks Local Municipality is making headway regarding pothole repairs on the roads within its jurisdiction (Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp regions).

According to the acting manager of communication, Jeanette Tshite, the progress reported and verified stands at 45 per cent of the total square metres of potholes that have been patched, and the work is still progressing. “To date, 33 service providers have been appointed, and 66 local SMMEs and approximately 165 labourers had already assumed their allocated sites,” Tshite said.

She added that another three contractors were appointed to start upgrading the critical roads identified.
For the current and past financial years, the municipality has made provisions in the budget to construct new roads and reseal and rehabilitate existing roads. “The pothole patching programme has also been an ongoing maintenance programme of the J.B. Marks Local Municipality,” Tshite concluded.
