SAPS assist learners in need

In partnership with The Muslim Women’s League and local business owners, the police donated blankets and food hampers to Padi Primary School at Modderfontein farm.

According to Sergeant Celine Nocanda, the community policing officer for Potchefstroom SAPS, the police were touched by the living conditions of the learners they observed during their regular school visits. Most of the learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds. They knew they had to act to make a difference.

Nocanda noted that farm communities are often left behind when it comes to basic service delivery as they tend to lack access to information. So they embarked on a good Samaritan act, involving community-based stakeholders who helped with donations. The partnership enabled them to donate food and blankets to brighten the learner’s Mandela Day.
