Originally from a deep rural area called Msinga in  KwaZulu-Natal. Fezokuhle Maphumulo would have never imagined that she would one day be a finalist for a modeling competition. “I didn’t know much about modeling because we didn’t have resources like electricity, internet,” the model said.

Maphumulo says it was  only when she came to varsity after Matric that her passion for modeling started. “ I was watching Miss South Africa /Miss Universe 2019  Zozibini Tunzi and I was inspired by her speech when she said ” may every little girl who witnessed this moment forever believe in the power of her dreams and may they see their faces reflected in mine”

Since then, Maphumulo was inspired to give it a chance after three years since  Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe, she finally  applied for Miss Glam South Africa 2022.

“ I got nominated for the next round and I was so excited about it not knowing that I’m going to face challenges,” the aspiring model said.

“They gave us tasks such as being featured in either a magazine or newspaper article and having an interview with a local radio station. These were some of the tasks that I found to be extremely challenging given my personality,” Maphumulo explained.

Maphumulo  says what made things even more difficult was the fact that most magazines and newspapers she wrote never responded but because she was determined to explore her new found passion, she didn’t gave up.

After many attempts,  she was featured in a  magazine and was also able to have a radio interview with a community radio station.  “ In spite of all of those challenges the greatest part of this journey was doing charity work in one of the child care centers where I donated food and sanitary pads,” she comforted herself.

Maphumulo is looking forward to working with the center in the future because she believes that a helping hand will always make a difference even if it is minor.

“We, as the youth, have to step up and be a solution to the challenges that our community is facing,” she said.

The crowning event will be held in  Johannesburg on 10 December 2022. Maphumulo is asking the community of Potchefstroom to join forces and make her dream come true by voting for her. For more details on how to vote, contact  Fezokuhle Maphumulo on  063 732 5747. “I will appreciate your support by voting for me,” she concluded.
