‘It’s Raining Men’ at Potchefstroom Academy

The show consisted of 10 male models covered in bodypaint to represent different characters.

Singing, clapping, and cheering was heard at the body-paint show, “It’s Raining Men”, presented by second year Somatology students at the Potchefstroom Academy Campus.

Brigité Duvenhage opened the show with “Bietjie Bipolêr”, an original composition. The crowd danced and sang along. The show consisted of 10 male models covered in bodypaint to represent different characters. The models were painted by second year somatology students, and the show made out part of an exam.

Sheriff Woody, painted by Tsepiso Kwele and Yolanda Rozani was brought to life by Zakiar, the male model. He interacted with the audience through his character, and shrieks of delight was heard. Sheriff Woody won the first place.

Lara Meyer and Brigité Duvenhage painted Wilhel Marais in the colours of Captain Steve Rogers, or better known as Captain America. Wilhelm jumped around with a shield, completed by a busted knee and bloodied knuckles. Captian Rogers won second place.

Spiderman, presented by Thabiso and painted by Rose Khaile and Sipesishle Mbatha captivated the children in the audience. Spiderman shot actual (toy) spiders at the children, and continued to act out his character by crawling and jumping. Spiderman won the third place in the show.

Junior Mathe did a fantastic interpretation of ‘The Soldier’, painted by Sasha-Leigh Koetaan and Phetola Mokwena. They represented a soldier in the South African Military through the body-paint.

Jean Willemse flew through his representation of Batman, and amazed the children in the audience. The character was painted by Liné Hannekom and Sria Ramroop.

The Saint, modeled by Masike and painted by Tshegofatso Matras and Kelebogile Magobe calmed the audience with his interpretation.

Harry Styles, ‘Love on Tour’ was modeled by Calvin Adlem and painted by Didi Snyders, Jané Jacobs, and Chenaé Brits.

Frans Williams represented ‘Gold Rush’ and will be covered in glitters for weeks. Ivané Payne, Lilani Pretorius, and Merise Louw painted him.

Pink Carnation, painted by Amy Taljaard, Carla Walker, and Michelle-Mari van Eeden, was modeled by Zander de Beer.

Christopher Richards became a NWU Rugby player under the paint strokes of Rochelle de Jager, Eloise Landman, and Anri Nel.

Elana Strydom, Lettie Bam, Evan Wallace, Anine Wallace(campus CEO), and Wesley Wallace(campus COO) enjoyed the show.
The campus dance group entertained the audience while the winners were being calculated.
