The FCJ announces new leadership after Annual Meeting
The opening date for the AVBOB FCJ Excellence Awards for 2023 will be announced later this week.
The Forum of Community Journalists (FCJ) announced a new leadership team after the forum’s recent Annual General Meeting. The new leadership are committing to upholding journalistic integrity and community engagement.
Mariette Lombard was elected as Deputy Executive Director and Ben Burger as Executive Director of FCJ.
Wayne Van Der Walt, photographer of the year for 2022, was elected as the new Director for Mpumalanga and Limpopo province. Tobie Van Den Bergh, a founder of FCJ retired as Director of these provinces on 31 March after almost 50 years of community news.
Ronelle Ramsamy was elected as co-opted Director for KwaZulu-Natal. Ramsamy is an award-winning journalist and with her as co-opted Director, the FCJ will have added influence and distinction in this province.
The focus and mission of the FCJ is to promote excellence in community journalism and to safeguard the rights of journalists in South Africa. The FCJ is committed to continue this mission and focus.
The opening date for the AVBOB FCJ Excellence Awards for 2023 will be revealed later this week. The annual gala dinner and national seminar is scheduled for August and will be hosted in Gauteng.
