New era begins at school of tactical intelligence
A new chapter begins at the School of Tactical Intelligence, as Colonel Titus Wallace returns to lead with a renewed focus on academic excellence, character development, and lifelong learning, marking a momentous occasion of tradition and leadership.
In a momentous occasion marked by tradition and reverence, Colonel Titus Tibaba Wallace was officially welcomed as the new Officer Commanding of the School of Tactical Intelligence on a sun-soaked day in Potchefstroom. After a distinguished 28-year career, including 24 years as an instructor at the same institution, Colonel Wallace returns to the School with a renewed commitment to excellence.
The Welcoming Parade commenced with a stirring performance by the combined military bands from Limpopo and KwaZulu Natal, filling the air with patriotic melodies. Scout K.P. Komane set the tone for the day by reading the Code of Conduct for uniformed members, emphasizing the values that underpin military service.
In a reflective sermon, the Chaplain guided attendees through a journey of self-introspection, underscoring the importance of leading from the heart rather than solely from the mind. This theme resonated throughout the day, particularly in Colonel Wallace’s address.
Opening his speech with the Zulu phrase “Hamba Uzobuya,” which translates to “You may go, but you will return,” Colonel Wallace acknowledged his past departure and triumphant return to the School. He recounted his journey, highlighting how his experiences have shaped him into the leader he is today.
“My time as an instructor, combined with my previous roles, has polished me like a diamond for this position,” Colonel Wallace stated. He laid out his vision for the School, focusing on pillars of Academic Excellence, Character Development, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Community Involvement, and Lifelong Learning.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Colonel Wallace thanked the members who maintained operations during the transition period, ensuring the School continued to function smoothly in his absence.
The Welcoming function, held at the 1 Tactical Intelligence Regiment, was expertly directed by Major L.P. Baptista Lengwasa. The day culminated in the presentation of gifts to Colonel Wallace from his unit and the South African Army Intelligence Formation. Special recognition was also given to his family, with flowers presented to his wife, Dr. S.M.M. Wallace, and his mother, Mrs. G. Wallace.
As Colonel Wallace takes on his new role, there is a palpable sense of optimism within the ranks of the School of Tactical Intelligence, marking the beginning of a new chapter under his capable leadership.
