8 areas will be affected by water supply interruption

Planned water outage in Potchefstroom from May 20–21 to upgrade pipelines. Affected areas urged to store water.

At least eight areas in Potchefstroom will be affected by a scheduled water supply interruption from Tuesday, May 20 to at 08:00 until Wednesday May 21 at 18:00.

According to Jeanette Tshite, municipal spokesperson, this shutdown is necessary to connect a new 450mm OPVC pipeline to the pump station and reservoir.  a 400mm asbestos pipe will also be replaced.

“To minimize inconvenience during this period, residents are advised to store sufficient water in
advance. The Municipality apologizes for the inconvenience that will be caused by this disruption and
appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation,” said Tshite.

Areas that will be affected are as follows:
• Vyfhoek
• Baillie Park
• Tuscany Ridge
• Grimbreek Park
• Van der Hoff Park
• Die Land
• Waterberry
• Part of Potchefstroom Central
