Boys High clinch historic win over Schoonspruit

Potchefstroom Boys High 1st XV secure historic win over Schoonspruit in a hard-fought Noordvaal Division 4 clash.

Potchefstroom High School for Boys added another win to their Noordvaal division 4 campaign on Saterday, May 17.

The College boys travelled to Klerksdorp to take on the new kids on the block, for this division, Schoonspruit High School. Although the age group teams struggled against the boys from Klerksdorp, the 1st XV managed to beat their more fancied rivals by 27-29.

“They have a great team, but we fought until the final whistle. It was amazing, we made history” said Mohau Mohlahleli, 1st XV coach.

According to Tiaan du Preez, 1st XV coach of Schoonspruit, they are happy to have kicked off the season with good wins in the age groups. But conceded that College’s 1st XV was the better team on the day.

“It was a tough game, Boys High never held back, it was a match of small margins, but Boys High were better on the day,” du Preez said.

Boys High have a bye this weekend, while Schoonspruit travels to Zeerust for their next fixture.
