Residents urged to attend ward boundary meetings

The JB Marks Municipality is calling on residents, community groups and political parties to have their say on proposed ward boundaries ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections. Public meetings will be held in Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp this week.

The JB Marks Local Municipality, on behalf of the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB), invites
members of the public, civil society organizations, political parties, and all stakeholders to attend a
public participation meeting on the proposed draft ward boundaries for JB Marks Local Municipality.
This consultation forms part of the statutory process leading up to the 2026 Local Government
Elections (LGE). In line with the Municipal Structures Act, 117 of 1998 (Schedule 1, as amended), the
MDB is mandated to delimit Municipal Wards every five years to ensure effective representation and
fair electoral processes. The purpose of the meeting is to present the 2026 Draft Wards Maps for JB
Marks Local Municipality, provide a platform for stakeholders and residents to engage, comment and
ensure that the ward configuration process is transparent, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of
communities. The Public Meetings are  scheduled to be held as follows:

Date:  Wednesday,17 September 2025

Venue: Madiba Banqueting Halls (09h00 – 13h00) OR Tambo Community Hall in the Potchefstroom region (14h00 – 17h00)

Date: Thursday, 18 September 2025

Venue Ext. 2 Community Hall in the Ventersdorp Region (09h00 – 13h00)
