There are still numerous eyesores in the form of illegal dumping as well as squatters living in the CBD, despite positive ground being made in the area to regenerate the local economy and decrease crime.

According to Sean Trautmann, DA councillor of ward 24, homeless people manage their way through an opening in the gate to gain access to the building where a transformer is housed that provides electricity to a block of the CDB.
