North-West police spokesperson, Col Adele Myburgh, confirmed that Mr Mohau Shuping had been arrested and that police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property.

A municipal employee, Mr Mohau Shuping (44), was arrested this past week for allegedly damaging the property of the deputy sheriff and the repossession agent.

The deputy sheriff was acting under instruction of the High Court to execute an order by seizing Shuping’s vehicle on Tuesday, 3 March. The incident occurred at 16:00 in Ikageng.

North-West police spokesperson, Col. Adele Myburgh, confirmed that Shuping had been arrested and that police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property.

“It is believed that the bank gave instructions to seize the vehicle via an attorney. There was an argument and it is alleged that the owner of the vehicle damaged the vehicles by throwing rocks at the car windows,” she said.

The damage to one of the vehicles.

The Herald is also in possession of dashcam footage which shows a man, alleged to be Shuping, throwing rocks at the abovementioned vehicles.

According to a repossession agent who was at the scene of the incident, Shuping drove his vehicle off the tow truck and parked it in his yard.

“When we went back the next day, the vehicle was not on the owner’s property.”

Myburgh confirmed that the case had not been placed on the court roll.

The Herald contacted Shuping on Friday, March 6, but he did not want to comment on the incident.
