B.A. Seobi learners showcase their tech skills
Community members and organisations are encouraged to support and get involved as the programme continues to grow and inspire change.
On Saturday, March 21, a powerful movement was ignited in Potchefstroom as young girls from B.A. Seobi Secondary School gathered for the official launch of the Technovation programme, an initiative aimed at empowering the next generation of female innovators and problem-solvers.
Led by Lesego Mokgothu, the programme creates a safe and inspiring space for girls to explore technology, develop creative solutions to real-world challenges, and build confidence in their ideas and voices.
The launch event brought together enthusiastic participants who engaged in interactive activities, teamwork, and discussions around how technology can be used to make a meaningful impact in their communities. From idea generation to problem-solving, the girls were encouraged to think boldly and see themselves as future leaders in the digital world.
“What stood out the most was seeing the girls begin to realise that their ideas matter,” said Lesego. “This programme is about more than just technology – it’s about confidence, courage, and creating change in their immediate environments.”
The Technovation programme will run over the coming weeks, guiding participants through a structured journey of identifying community challenges, designing solutions, and presenting their ideas.
With a strong focus on empowerment, innovation, and collaboration, this initiative marks an important step toward bridging the gender gap in technology and creating opportunities for young women in Potchefstroom and beyond.
