Municipality released temporary load reduction schedule for the weekend

Residents and businesses will need to plan ahead based on the schedule that will differ from area to area.

The JB Marks Local Municipality has issued a public notice informing residents of planned temporary electricity interruptions across Potchefstroom from Saturday, 9 May 2026 to Monday, 11 May 2026. The interruptions are part of scheduled maintenance and switching operations at various substations due to a transformer that needs to be repaired by Eskom.

The second transformer is expected to be back online by early next week. Once the repair is complete, stability will return and load curtailment will end.
