Promosa Community Arts Centre hosts successful Youth Day event

The event saw various stakeholders from the SAPS, IEC and Civil Society present powerful topics which were relevant to the youth.

The Promosa Community Arts Centre hosted their third annual Youth Day Sports Tournament on June 16 at the Promosa Stadium with the aim of raising funds for the centre and the upliftment of the local community.

More than 300 athletes from various sporting codes such as football, netball and hockey participated in various tournaments on the day.

The event saw various stakeholders from the SAPS, IEC and Civil Society present powerful topics which were relevant to the youth.

According to the organiser, Natasja Barends, the event was a huge success with more than 500 participants taking part in the football tournaments across various age groups.

Aerobics was also presented at the beginning of the event by Kanana CAC as well as self-defense for the netball players by Mmabana and Kanana CAC.

There were also entertainment with dance groups performing.

“The purpose of the event was to raise finds to assist with renovation and assist the Centre in helpings participants with items such as proper dance clothing, sport regalia and additional sporting equipment,” she stated.

“We recommend that all stakeholders work together in Promosa to make one big event as it is for the good of the community and benefits other organizations,” she mentioned.

She also thanked all the stakeholders for the role they played in making the day a success.

The Promosa Community Youth Centre is requesting continued assistance as they aim to continue to grow the arts centre.
