Water supply interrupted in Ikageng

Residents in Ikageng are experiencing water supply issues due to the fault of a contractor who accidentally damaged pipelines.

The contractor responsible for the ongoing water pipeline work on Lekhele Street has accidently damaged two bulk water pipelines.

This has resulted in residents in all the Extension areas of Ikageng, as well as parts of Ikageng Proper and Potch Industria having water supply interruptions since yesterday (June 18).

According to JB Marks Municipal Spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, Municipal Technical Teams and the contractor were on site yesterday to repair the damage.

“The work is still ongoing and has not yet been completed. Reservoir levels continue to decline due to ongoing consumption while pumping operations remain suspended pending completion of the repairs,” added Tshite.

The Municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused and assures residents that every effort is being made to restore the water supply as quickly as possible.
