Potchefstroom Hospital staff spent 67 minutes giving back to patients on Friday, July 17, as part of activities leading up to Nelson Mandela Day.

In partnership with various stakeholders, staff members from the hospital’s Occupational Therapy Department, Corporate Services and the Crisis Centre served coffee, soup, bread and cake to patients and visitors.

The initiative formed part of the annual Mandela Day campaign, which encourages South Africans to dedicate 67 minutes to community service in honour of the late former President Nelson Mandela.

This year’s Mandela Day theme, “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty,” highlights the importance of making a positive difference in the lives of others through acts of kindness and service.

The hospital said the initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to improving the lives of patients while keeping alive the spirit and legacy of Nelson Mandela.
