Emergency services responded to a large veld fire behind MC Roode earlier today after the blaze was reportedly sparked by an electrical fault.

Firefighting teams were assisted by members of the community as they worked to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading.

The JB Marks Local Municipality’s electrical department was also on the scene to attend to the reported electrical fault believed to have caused the fire.

No injuries had been reported at the time of publication, and the full extent of the damage was not yet known.
