North West Bowls hosted its Champ-of-Champs tournament at the well organised Potch Town Bowls Club over the weekend of 4 and 5 July.

All the singles champions from the various clubs in the North West gathered to measure their skills against one another to determine the Champion of Champions.

The tournament was well run, thanks to Potch and their team. The weather also played along perfectly to allow the layers to present their abilities. The Men and Ladies played in two sections each and, on Sunday afternoon, the winners of each section then played off against each other. The section winners that played in the ladies finals were, Christine Marais of Lafarge against Rene de Jager of Potch Town.

After an exciting and nail- biting match, Rene beat Christine 21-20. In the Men’s Finals, Tinus Crous of Klerksdorp came up against Potch Town’s very own golden boy, Protea player Pierre Breitenbach.

On the day, though, Tinus beat Pierre 21-13, both playing brilliant bowls.
