Gimmie and Saints cricket stars selected for SA u19 tour to Pakistan

Gimmies and North West Dragons women batter, Deidré van Rensburg and Saints all-rounder, Reabetswe Dithipe, are two Potch players who will represent the SA u19 women's team.

Two of Potchefstroom’s bright young cricket talents, Deidré van Rensburg and Reabetswe Dithipe, has been chosen to represent the SA u19 cricket team in a tour to Pakistan from July 14-24.

Deidré is a matriculant from Potchefstroom Gimnasium, whilst Reabetswe Dithipe is a grade 10 learner from Saints Christian School. Dithipe is set to make her SA u19 debut in Pakistan as a bowling all-rounder with her tight spin bowling and solid batting sure to be an asset.

Van Rensburg has been in scintillating form with the bat for the North West Dragons women and will want to continue producing runs in SA colours.

The 15-player squad will once again be captained by Easterns all-rounder Mieke van Voorst. All the matches will take place in Karachi.

Deidré van Rensburg and Reabetswe Ditihipe will represent the SA u19 cricket team in their tour to Pakistan.

The historic trip presents the SA U19 Women with a valuable opportunity to further their preparations for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027, which will be held in Bangladesh and Nepal in January next year.

“This tour is a significant step in our preparation for the T20 World Cup next year. While our national training camps remain important in developing our skills, game plans and team culture, there is no substitute for the experience gained through competitive international cricket.

“The opportunity to play a quality opposition in Pakistan and experience subcontinent conditions similar to those we expect in Bangladesh and Nepal will be invaluable for our players. It will help them adapt to different environments, grow in confidence and further their understanding of their roles as we continue building towards the World Cup,” stated SA u19 Women head coach Dinesha Devnarain.

SA u19 Women’s Squad:

Mieke van Voorst, Chris-Mari Bezuidenhout, Daneli Boshoff, Jae-Leigh Filander, Reabetswe Dithipe, Miya Lalor, Respect Mabasa, Ziya Mohanlall, Makwana Moriri, Lungile Ngcobo, Melissa van der Merwe, Diedre van Rensburg, Ashleigh Van Wyk, Chanel Venter and Nobubelebesisa Zwane.
