Saturday will be ‘do or die’ for two of Potchefstroom’s FNB Classic Clash rivals as pride and bragging rights will be at stake at Potchefstroom Boys’ High. HTS Potchefstroom’s first team will be wanting to make it four wins in a row and continue their supremacy over Potchefstroom Boys’ High’s first XV at the annual FNB Classic Clash between these two proud rugby foes. This will not be as easy on enemy territory as Potchefstroom Boys’ High will want nothing less than to break the three-match winning streak on home ground.

This highly anticipated encounter is always a bitterly close affair with no fewer than five points separating the two sides in the past few years. Last year, HTS snatched the victory from Potchefstroom Boys’ High with the final kick of the game to win 13-12. This year will most probably be no different as nothing separates these teams on paper or on the field except the colour of their well-known rugby jerseys.

‘It is an incredible feeling to get on that field and face Boys’ High in the Classic Clash. We want to play with passion and put everything on the line. The guys want to play good rugby on Saturday. We are going to make our supporters proud,’ said Pitso Mosia, captain of HTS Potch’s first team. Potchefstroom Boys’ High captain, Katleho Morapane, is also adamant that the boys in blue and orange can grab the victory on Saturday.

‘This season has gone pretty well and we have picked up wins to build momentum. The Classic Clash is a big game that only comes once a year and we are going all out for a win,’ he said. In addition to this big first XV clash, there will also be u.14, u.15, u.16 and second team matches during this big sporting day. The schools’ u.16 and first soccer teams will also compete.
