North West 8-Ball Pool Association recently held its trials for the women, seniors and masters division for the coming PSA National Tournaments in Vereeniging in April/May 2018.
The tournaments were hosted at Rafters Pool Club in Lichtenburg and the NW venue, Matlosana Sports and Recreation Centre in Klerksdorp. The top three women performers after two days of intense competition were Lolla van der Merwe (Rafters Pool Club in Lichtenburg), Chené Grace and Gina Labuschagne (Feathers Pool Club in Klerksdorp). In the seniors/masters event, Neville Davids (Feathers Pool Club in Klerksdorp) finished on top, followed by Eswee Kotzee (Broncos Pool Club In Potchefstroom) and Johnny Pretorius (Feathers Pool Club in Klerksdorp).
The championships for these categories will be held in February 2018, after which the teams will be selected to represent North West Province.
The PSA National Championships attracts players, supporters and administrators from all over the country and, for all seven tournaments, sees a collective attendance of about 5 000 people. This is a very good marketing opportunity for business and sponsors of provincial teams.
