Mosiako and Mokopane ready to spring into action in Denmark

“It is going to be hard with it being winter there. The key will be to stay with the pack and for us to work together in groups. The goal is to reach the top 20 as a group and that will be more than exceptional,”

The 2019 World Cross Country Championships is beckoning for two of Potchefstroom and ACNW’s most acclaimed middle and long distance athletes, Rantso Mokopane and Thabang Mosiako, who will look to fly the SA flag high.

Rantso Mokopane

These championships will take place in the cold conditions of Aarhus in Denmark on Saturday, 30 March. It is a far cry from the typically hot conditions that Mokopane and Mosiako are used to. Still, both athletes will know that all the preparation and hard work will not be in vain when they reach the starting line in Denmark.

“It is going to be hard with it being winter there. The key will be to stay with the pack and for us to work together in groups. The goal is to reach the top 20 as a group and that will be more than exceptional,” added Mokopane, who realises the stiff competition he will face come race day. The local coach, Springs Phakathi has coached both athletes to local success and the question will now be if he can translate that into international accolades.
