The 2019 NWU Sports Awards recognised some of the top achievers of the university this past year. The NWU Athletics team walked away with the top prize for team of the year after taking the USSA and Varsity Athletics crowns. Sprinter, Chederick van Wyk, took the award for the NWU Sportsman of the Year, whilst the NWU Sportwoman of the Year award went to javelin thrower, Jo-Ané van Dyk. The Junior Sportman of the Year award went to Robert de Villiers. Carmen Cloete took the Junior Sportwoman of the Year award.
