Local cricketers aim for top results at 2019 Khaya Majola Week

The 13-strong North West team features eight cricketers from Potchefstroom.

The North West u.19 Khaya Majola Week team is ready to put their collective cricketing talents to good work as they prepare to take on other provincial giants as this prestigious cricket week.
This year, the tournament heads to Michaelhouse Boys School in Pietermaritzburg in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. The competition will take place between16–20 December 2019.

The 13-strong North West team features eight cricketers from Potchefstroom.

These players are Van Zyl Smit, Jannie Claassens, Timothy Malan (Volkies), Frans Viviers, Simphiwe Mkwanazi (Gimmies) and Phemelo Sepati, Jim Keagile and Karabelo Matlawe (THS Potchefstroom). Other players include the spinner, Odirile Modimokane; the explosive batsman, Estiaan Schonfeldt from Hoërskool Rustenburg and Julian Mare (CVO Derby), Saad Shabbir (Fields College) and Paballo Sibande (THS

Expect Smit, Claassens and Schonfeldt to pile on the runs.

Keagile and Matlawe will be two key spinning options while the versatile Sepati can contribute with bat and ball. Overall, the squad seems to have a good balance on paper, but the real test will be when the team takes to the tradition-filled fields.
