One of the bright young sporting talents from Potchefstroom, Olebogeng Mosiane (19), has recently showcased his talent for the Premier Soccer League club, Highlands Park FC. Mosiane, a former learner of THS Potchefstroom, signed a contract with the Lions of The North and is currently playing in the u.19 reserve team and the Multichoice Diski League Reserve team. Mosiane was always a talented athlete as a learner, proudly representing his school in soccer, rugby and cricket. In 2019, his soccer career got a real boost during his single season at Bokone NW FC, where scouts from Highlands Park first noticed him.
“My coach at Bokone FC, Mr Lehlohonolo Moeketsi, took me to trials at Highlands Park and I got in, so I was very grateful for this massive opportunity. He is one of my big mentors,” said Mosiane.
Mosiane or “Olly” as he is known, is a fantastic left-footed winger, who plays on the left wing for Highlands Park. In his short professional career, he has already scored one goal and contributed four assists for the club.
“It’s been going well and has been quite a learning experience in such a professional environment,” said Mosiane. He is looking to play more consistently for his club as time goes by.
“I want to be more consistent and score more goals for the club. This is the way I can improve,” said the youngster.
“My favourite sport at school was actually cricket, but soccer’s doors opened for me and now I am taking this opportunity,” he said.
