Ferdies take leaps of glory at Inter-High

Several Ferdies athletes made spectators stand up and take notice with some thrilling performances.

The North West Platinum Inter-High spectacle took place at the NWU McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom on Friday, 14 February.
Ferdies was the only Potch-based school at the event, where seven athletes took first places in an ultra-competitive environment.
Hoërskool Wolmaransstad was crowned as the overall champions and successfully defended the title they won in 2019.
Several Ferdies athletes made spectators stand up and take notice with some thrilling performances.
Loyiso Fihla took gold in the boys’ u.14 100 m and long jump. He went across the line in a time of 12.31 and achieved a distance of 5.52 metres in the long jump. Karli Beukes (girls u.17) took first place in the 400 m hurdles in a time of 01:12.9. Zia Pieterse (girls u.17) also achieved the first place in the long jump with an effort of 4.76 metres.
The impressive Zander Cooke took gold with a 12.47 m throw in the boys u.16 section, while Janri Hendriks also showed her talent in the girls u.15 discus with a throw of 27.7 metres to grab gold. Jozel Brits (javelin u.14) and Heinrich van der Walt (javelin u.15) also achieved first places. Van der Walt threw a distance of 37.25 metres with Brits reaching the 25.75-metre mark.
