Some of the world’s top men’s tennis stars will take part in the 2020 Potchefstroom Open ATP Challenger 50 event at the North West University/RVTA tennis courts from 9-15 March.
The line up of competitors will include world number 230, Dustin Brown as the fourth seed. Germany’s Brown, with his distinctive dreadlocks, is one of the most eye catching players on the ATP tour. Brown, who has Jamaican heritage, also holds a 2-0 win record against Rafael Nadal and always has a bunch of tricks up his sleeve on court.
Other top talents include France’s, Benjamin Bonzi, as the first seed and favourite. Bonzi recently won the NWU Open ITF World Tour event in Potch yesterday and will look to bag another title in this rich vein of form. Bonzi has acclimatised brilliantly to the Potch altitude and will want to continue his successful run.
Hugo Grenier (second seed), Peda Krstin (third seed) and Daniel Masur (sixth seed) are other players to look out for.
South Africa’s Khololwam Montsi, Gerhardt Bekker and Vaughn Hunter have wild card entries to the tournament and will want to impress at their home tournament. Locals will surely root for one of these men to come through strong in Potch this week.
