Dolphins make it two in a row in Potch

The top order of the Dolphins paved the way to victory with opener, Grant Roelofsen (92 off 101) and David Miller (57 off 66) setting the stage to the team total of 290/8.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins claimed their second win in a row during their Momentum One Day Cup clash with the VKB Knights today (Sunday, 10 January). The Dolphins followed up their 76 run win on Saturday against the Multiply Titans with a comprehensive 53 run victory against the Knights.

The top order of the Dolphins paved the way to victory with opener, Grant Roelofsen (92 off 101) and David Miller (57 off 66) setting the stage to the team total of 290/8. Miller was back in good nick hitting two fours and a missive six in his innings. Roelofsen also impressed once again with his second half-century in as many matches. Roelofsen will though be a tad disappointed after missing out an a century with a rash stroke.

The Knights deployed a total of 7 bowlers during the innings, with spinners, Jacques Snyman (2/52) and Shaun von Berg (1/42) impressing. The side from Bloemfontein was always on the backfoot after constantly losing wickets at critical times. Patrick Kruger (36), Andries Gous (54), Pite van Biljon (33) and Farhaan Behardien (45) all made start but couldn’t kick on to bigger scored in order to anchor the innings. It was a total team performance from the Dolphins bowlers as they bowled the Knights out for 237, just before a massive rain shower hit Senwes Park.

The experienced, Robbie Frylinck (2/14) in 8 overs, was at his mercurial best. New Proteas recruit, Ottniel Baartman (1/28) in 7 overs also showed his worth. Senuran Muthusamy (1/38) kept things tidy in the middle overs as the Knights never got the momentum they needed in the chase.

The Knights have a chance at redemption tomorrow (Monday, 11 January) when they take on the Multiply Titans in the third match of the competition. Both teams are yet to register a win and would like nothing more than to put the first tick in the win column.
