The Lions and Dolphins both hit a couple of punches in the first innings of the Momentum One Day Cup final, without a specific team hitting the knockout blow in a tight contest at Senwes Park today.
The final that would’ve taken place yesterday if rain had not intervened, saw the Lions bat first in a reduced 45 overs a side match and amassing 225/7.

The pick of the batsmen for the Lions were skipper, Dominic Hendricks (65 off 74) and Nicky van den Bergh (56 off 75). The duo put on a brilliant 116 run partnership as they recovered from 56/3 to 172/4. This breakthrough was exactly what the Dolphins needed as they pegged the Lions back in the final overs. Dolphins speedster, Eathan Bosch (4/41) was the best bowler for the Dolphins. Prenelan Subrayen (1/26) off 9 overs also impressed.
The Dolphins now need 226 to win the Momentum One Day Cup in what promises to be an enthralling second half of the match.
