Former Dragons all-rounder sets new Proteas record

Pretorius now has the distinction of having the best bowling figures by a South African in T20 International cricket.

The former North West Dragons all rounder, Dwaine Pretorius, bowled himself into the record books this past weekend when he claimed career best T20 figures of 5/17 to take South Africa to victory in the second T20 international against Pakistan in Lahore.

Pretorius also now has the distinction of having the best bowling figures by a South African in T20 International cricket.

Pretorius, follows in the footsteps of Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren and David Wiese as the only Proteas bowlers to have taken a five wicket haul for South Africa in T20 Internationals.

South Africa though could not win the series and had to settle for a 2-1 defeat in the T20 series. Pretorius made his debut for the NW Dragons in 2011 and served the team with distinction before moving on to the Lions in franchise cricket and eventually making his Proteas debut in an ODI against Ireland in 2016.

He made his T20 debut against England in 2017.
