Silver medals for surfer and swimmer at Tokyo Olympics

Tatjana Schoenmaker (swimming) and Bianca Buitendag (surfing) took silver for their country in Tokyo.

It took a couple of days but South Africans can finally smile with joy and celebration as two outstanding competitors flied the SA flag high with silver at the Tokyo Olympics today (Tuesday, 27 July).

Tatjana Schoenmaker took silver in the women’s 100m breaststroke final in a time of 1:05.22 sandwiched in between Americans, Lydia Jacoby (gold) and Lilly King (bronze).

Bianca Buitendag won silver in the women’s surfing shortboard competition ending the final with a score of 8.46, behind the American Carissa Moore who compiled a gold medal worthy 14.93 point tally.
