Bronze for NWU women’s hockey at USSA’s

Kirsty Adams and Badrunnisaa Halliday scored the goals to take the NWU ladies to the bronze medal in the A-section.

The 2021 University Sports South Africa (USSA) Hockey tournament took place at Wits this past weekend with the NWU teams performing well against their tertiary counterparts.

The NWU women took home a bronze medal in the A-section after beating the University of the Free State, 2-1 in the third/fourth place playoff match on Sunday, 26 September.

The men’s hockey team beat UJ 3-2 in the match to decide 5th place in the tournament. NWU shar shooter, Pierre Botma (a former Potch Gimmie) was the top scorer of the tournament.

He also scored in the match against UJ, with Nico Neethling and Denzel Mahole contributing the other goals.

The University of Pretoria was on top form as both their men’s and women’s teams won the A-section.
